The Islip Town board will honor Dr. David Kavesteen with a plaque for his work in preventing Lyme disease and tick bites. Dr. Kavesteen recently donated his time and money for public service announcements concerning ticks. It will air on the Islip Government Access channel and will feature Councilman Steve Flotteron on how to avoid and protect yourself against tick bites. This season Dr. Kavesteen is also being honored for his work in Heart Disease Prevention. Dr. Kavesteen, along with his staff from Heart and Health Of Babylon, will be offering a free heart screening to all Town of Islip employees and their families on June 16th 2014, as well as the whole month of June. Dr. Kavesteen recently stated that prevention is our best tool to stop heart disease. It is better that we treat the disease before it starts or spreads rather than wait until you are in the emergency room at three o’clock in the morning.
