Founded in 1922 and staffed by more than 700 physicians, the 306-bed St. Francis—New York’s only specialty designated cardiac center—was again top-ranked on Long Island by U.S. News & World Report and, for the 11th consecutive year, listed among the Best Hospitals in America (2017–2018), in addition to being among just 7% of U.S. hospitals to have earned Magnet® designation. Good Samaritan Medical Center

Good Samaritan Medical Center is a not-for-profit hospital in West Islip that serves the communities on the South Shore of Long Island. Good Samaritan offers care for both inpatient services and outpatient services and has high-quality medical services. Good Samaritan is known for its stellar care in Oncology, Cardiology, Orthopedic, Women’s, Respiratory, Neuro-Surgical, and Surgical. Good Samaritan Hospital excels in its medical services and state-of-the-art diagnostic imaging capabilities.
Good Samaritan Hospital is one of the largest providers of emergency services. In the emergency room, they treat about 95,000 patients a year, about 29,000 or more of those patients are admitted for inpatient services. In 2008, Good Samaritan expanded, giving the hospital more room to offer rehabilitation services, including physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapies. Good Samaritan Hospital is also known for its Cardiology services and expert medical providers. It is one of a few select hospitals in New York that performs primary and elective angioplasty procedures. Good Samaritan Hospital has also been approved to develop an open heart surgery program.
David Kavesteen MD FACC, doctor, founder, & lead cardiologist of Heart and Health Medical is a provider of Good Samaritan Hospital. Doctor Kavesteen opened up Heart and Health Medical in 2008, a Cardiology practice located in North Babylon, NY. He then expanded his practice and opened up his second location in Middle Island, NY, his third office in Nassau County, Plainview, NY, and a fourth office conveniently located on Sunrise Hwy, in Massapequa, NY. With his affiliation at Good Samaritan Hospital, and his four offices in practice, he services Central Long Island, Suffolk County, and Nassau County.

Doctor Kavesteen is recognized as a “Leading Physician of the World” and the “Top Cardiologist in Babylon, NY” by the International Association of Cardiologists, and as “One of America’s Top Cardiologists 2010” by the Consumers’ Research Council of America. Mount Sinai Hospital, founded in 1852, is one of the top hospitals nationwide. Mount Sinai’s top specialties include Geriatrics, Gastroenterology, and Ear, Nose, and Throat. It is also ranked number 13 for heart services by U.S News and World Report. Mount Sinai’s Children’s Hospital, Kravis Children’s Hospital made U.S News rankings for many specialties including Cardiology and Heart Surgery. As of 2012, there were 2,500 Physicians, 1,062 Residents and Fellows, and 2,200 Nurses. With 1,171 beds and a very active emergency room, Mount Sinai is recognized for its excellence in clinical care.

Dr. Kavesteen opened up his own Cardiology practice, Heart and Health Medical in 2008. Dr. Kavesteen opened up his first location of Heart and Health Medical in North Babylon, NY. He then expanded his practice and opened up his second location in Middle Island, NY. In March, 2013, he expanded again and opened up his third office in Nassau County, Plainview, NY.

Winthrop University Hospital houses 591 beds and is known for it’s Medical Center and Regional Trauma Center, which offers top-quality care in all medical specialties and surgery. Not only is Winthrop a medical hospital, but it is also dedicated to medical education and research. Winthrop offers both inpatient and outpatient services. Serving Nassau County, Suffolk County, and Queens, on Long Island, Winthrop gives services for newborns through the elderly. There are about 1,500 nurses, and a lot of full-time and voluntary medical staff who are ready to treat, prevent, diagnose, and care for patients.

Winthrop Hospitals Emergency Department offers a large range of services. Some of it’s emergency units include:

Stony Brook Medical Center

Stony Brook Medical Center

Stony Brook University Hospital, previously known as Stony Brook University Medical Center, is a nationally ranked, 695-bed non-profit, research, and academic medical center located in Stony Brook, New York, providing tertiary care for the entire Long Island region. The medical center is a part of the Stony Brook Medicine Health System and is made up of four hospitals that include the Stony Brook University Hospital, Stony Brook Children’s Hospital, Stony Brook Southampton Hospital, and Stony Brook Eastern Long Island Hospital. SBUH is affiliated with the Renaissance School of Medicine at Stony Brook University. Long Island’s only tertiary care and a Level 1 Adult and Pediatric Trauma Center, the hospital is ranked as the 12th best in New York and 10th in the New York metropolitan area by U.S. News & World Report. The hospital campus also includes a rooftop helipad to better serve critical cases.[6]
