Calcium Score Testing is an important diagnostic test to gauge your cardiac health. It is usually a test administered when more information is needed after other initial tests have been given. Also known as a Cardiac CT for Calcium Scoring, this test will be able to provide a visual for your doctor of the status of your coronary arteries such as if there is plaque build up or a blockage. Right here on Long Island, our Heart and Health medical professionals administer this test for patients living in both Nassau and Suffolk counties.

The test is given by placing electrode pads on your chest while also being connected to a CT scanner. These electrode pads will pass information to an EKG machine about the electrical activity of the heart while the CT scanner will take strategic photos of the chest. The EKG will monitor your heart rate so that the CT scanner can take pictures at optimal moments. Levels of calcium along the artery walls will be noted as well.
